It is only Wednesday and my space unit is already a HUGE hit with the kids. Being in a K-5 Varying Exceptionalities class, it is safe to say that my Showcase Instructional Unit could have gone one of 2 ways. However, being the creative genius that I am, I not only found information that is age, grade, and academically appropriate for all of the students, but I also made it fun, exciting, and engaging as well. Each day I read an informative book while asking dialogic reading questions, the students are taught 5 new vocabulary words using Powerpoint Presentations, and then we conclude with a hands-on activity to support the days theme. Monday we did an introduction to the Solar System, Tuesday was the Sun, Wednesday the planets, Thursday is the moon, and concluding Friday with the stars! I am ecstatic with the way the week has gone so far and look forward to the last two lessons in the unit. Stay tuned my friends!
